Boaz Roelevink was born in Franeker, a small town in The Netherlands. When he was a year and a half, his family moved to Cape Town, South Africa, where they lived for about ten years. Lots of music was played at their house and he discovered his love for Country, Blues, and Soul at an early age. Between the vineyards, where they lived, the then three year old Boaz and his father sang Summertime. At the age of thirteen, Boaz started playing guitar but his first guitar fell and broke. He was allowed to borrow his grandma’s guitar and decided to hit the streets to save up some money for a new one. Playing in front of an audience felt enriching and he decided this was his path. He wanted to be on stage! At the age of seventeen he began his adventure in the Dutch television show 'We Want More', where he reached the finals. It became very clear at that moment that writing and telling stories through singing was his thing. He started writing his own songs. Songs about his experiences in life. Songs he feels people will relate to. Songs about broken hearts. But most importantly; Songs that have that twist of hope in them. Everything happens for a reason. After the finals were done, he got in touch with a couple musicians to write songs with. He met Maurice van Hoek and in less than a year they wrote and recorded his Debut Album ‘Keep It Simple’. The eleven varied songs and identical, crispy voice tell the story of twenty year old Boaz and his adventures in life.
